Hello glorious weekend!

I arrived home late last night from an awesome week in California, spending quality time with my Mom and attending the AMAZING Lyon-shop (I am forever changed from this workshop). I'll be blogging about all of it very soon!

Right now we're getting ready for Kara + David's wedding at Glen Echo Park. We're so excited to shoot there for the first time today! Below is a little teaser pic of Kara + David. You'll be seeing many more pics of them in a few weeks. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

Dharma + Andy | Engaged

Beautiful weather + cupcakes + awesome locations + ice cream + a fabulous couple = happiness

This was the earliest we've ever shot an engagement session. Those who are close to me know that I'm not a morning person, but for some reason, I woke up earlier than Drew (unheard of for me - at 5:30am no less!) to start preparing for Dharma + Andy's session. I was really excited. We met them at this adorable bakery and coffee shop in Alexandria called Buzz. It's so colorful and quirky, and has the most delicious cupcakes and pastries. We had fun eating our breakfast of sweets and taking a few pics. Then we headed to Old Town, where we made them kiss, hug, jump, climb, lay, trespass (well, it wasn't really trespassing because the woman came out of her house to talk to us :), and pretend to ride a chained up bike. They were troopers. Drew and I cannot wait until their wedding this fall! Dharma's really creative and pays a lot of attention to detail, so I know their big day is going to be fantastic.

The graffiti on the wall says "Lucky Charlie likes your face!"

Caught this little girl skipping down the sidewalk...so cute.

They're both avid bike riders, so this Bike and Roll shop was fitting.

And we just had to end the session with more sweets...yum.

Thank you, Dharma + Andy! We absolutely loved hanging out with you both. See you in a few months!

Published in Brides Washington Magazine!

We're so excited that Leigh + Mike's wedding was selected to be featured in Brides Washington magazine's Fall/Winter 2009 issue in the Real Weddings section! Leigh + Mike's wedding was absolutely gorgeous. We're thankful they trusted us to document their day. Their coordinator, Maria Cooke of Ritzy Bee Events, did a phenomenal job of making sure all of their details were perfect. Everything flowed together seamlessly - it was an amazing event. Thank you to Leigh + Mike, their family + friends, and the wonderful team of professionals they chose!

Brides Washington magazine is a fantastic resource for ideas and inspiration. This issue is on newsstands now, so definitely check it out if you're planning a wedding. A special thank you to Cristina and Kim at the magazine for making this happen!

Leigh + Mike's wedding team:

  • Day of wedding coordinator - Maria Cooke of Ritzy Bee Events - Super sweet and organized. Check out her awesome blog here for daily wedding eye candy and inspiration.
  • Florist - The Enchanted Florist - They did a beautiful job creating the boutonnieres + Leigh's unique baby's breath bouquet.
  • Bagpiper - Matthew Kuldell - Great musician. He played while guests arrived, and also led the walk from the ceremony to the reception.
  • Ceremony venue - The Athenaeum - A gorgeous art gallery and headquarters to the Northern Virginia Fine Arts Association.
  • Reception venue - Hotel Monaco - An amazing boutique hotel in the heart of Old Town. Joi Bradley is the wedding coordinator there, and she is wonderful.

Bia + Steve | Engaged

An MVP engagement session - Philly style!

Bia + Steve rocked our socks off. We met them in Rittenhouse Square and had so much fun exploring the city with them. They were both full of energy and couldn't have been any sweeter. Bia shares my love of all things creative - dancing, photography, painting... And Steve is a funny, laid-back guy who explained the history of every place we visited. It was awesome. We loved every second of our whirlwind tour of Philadelphia.

Next month, Bia + Steve will be married at the American Visionary Art Museum - one of our favorite spots in Baltimore. They're both from Maryland, so it's only fitting to have their wedding here. We're super excited for their big day! A huge thank you to Jessica and David's mom for passing along our info to them. You're the best, Mrs. Factor! :)

Here's Steve sporting his "S+B" henna heart. He + Bia had mehndi applied the night before for fun.

The man working at the Roxy Theatre was kind enough to let us come in between movies and shoot for a few minutes.

Bia's henna...

Steve is a med student (and Bia also works at the school he attends), so we visited the gross anatomy department where he spends most of his time, and got a little silly. **On a side note - Drew and I saw cadavers in body bags for the first time! Not something you would expect to see during an engagement session, but it was interesting and creepy ;)

I mentioned charity:water in a previous post last month. Bia + Steve's friend helped start this wonderful organization that brings clean drinking water to developing nations. Visit charity:water's website here and support the cause!

Bia + Steve - you both are delightful. Thank you for showing us around your hood :) We'll see you very soon!
