Tottie & Dan are Married!
Where do we begin with this awesome celebration... Tottie and Dan are such an amazing and fun couple. We feel blessed to know them and were so excited to be a part of their day! Their wedding was beautiful! The ceremony and reception were held at the Holiday Inn in Columbia. It had rained the night before and the morning of, but a couple hours before their ceremony, the sun broke through the clouds to shine on their day. I stayed with the girls, while Drew hung out with the guys. It was so much fun taking the getting ready pictures, watching Tottie and the girls laugh while getting dolled-up. I've known most of them since high school (hi Heather, Linz, Jen & Colleen!) It was a wonderful day. And our friend and fabulous photographer, Andrea Ackermann, joined us later in the afternoon to second shoot and help out (thanks so much for everything, A!)
We had a hard time narrowing down our favorites for the blog, but here they are. We'll be posting their slideshow in a couple days, so stay tuned!

Tottie looking gorgeous and finally realizing what's about to happen :)

My multitasking BFF, Lindsay, was a bridesmaid and also officiated the ceremony. She's become a real pro! I now pronounce you Mr. & Mrs. Daniel Mummert!

The DJ played "Jump in the Line" by Harry Belafonte and a conga line instantly ensued. Most of you are probably familiar with this song from the movie Beetlejuice...so much fun. Shake, shake, shake, senora!

I love these ones of Dan and Tottie's parents dancing...so happy and in love :)

The awesome Darrel Vaughn recreating a scene from Saturday Night Fever...

Tottie & Dan - We had a wonderful time capturing all of your moments throughout the day. Love you guys!! Wishing you all the best!

The Burcham Family

We were so honored when our friend, Andrea, asked us to photograph her family last month. Since she's a fellow photographer, I was SUPER nervous about getting everything right. But I quickly forgot about that during the drive to her parents' house when it started raining really hard. So hard, we even had to pull over at one point! There was no turning back, though, because one of her sisters was moving to Texas that following weekend and this was the last chance to get some shots of the whole family. When we arrived, I instantly knew I would love them. Their house was filled with laughter and good smelling food - it reminded me of being home at my mom's house :) Since the rain was still coming down, we started out on their front porch for a few shots...then ventured out to the driveway and yard in between drizzles...and at the very end of the session, the sun decided to peek out and give us some love. It was a great ending to the day. Andrea, spending time with your family was wonderful...thank you for letting us document your life together!

Tottie & Dan

This is Tottie and Dan...our first official bride and groom of 2008!! Tottie grew up in Columbia and went to my high school, but amazingly, I didn't meet her until after college when Lindsay introduced her to me. She and her fiance, Dan, are so sweet and cute together! We had an awesome time walking around with them at Lake Kittamaqundi and getting some fun shots. We're pumped for their wedding next month!! A special thanks to Lindsay for coming out to keep us company and holding the reflector...and for trying to make them laugh, although Tottie said that looking at my weird facial expressions was good enough for her ![]()

The Kelly Family
Melody and I go way back... We were in the same sorority in college, and lived together for 2 years...and then after graduation, we went backpacking through Europe for a month (lots of crazy memories from that trip). She is one of my closest friends and I love her dearly. I was so incredibly happy for her when she told me she was pregnant last year. She ended up giving birth to her beautiful baby girl, Kendall, 2 days before our wedding...so she had a pretty good excuse for not being able to come :)
Here are some shots we took of Melody and her husband, Jared, a couple weeks before Kendall was born...

Fast forward 4 months... Kendall wasn't feeling well, but still managed to squeeze out a couple smiles (and half-smiles) for us. I had to make this next shot a big one because I love it so much :) Look at that face...

Now you can see who she got her gorgeous eyes from...

This next shot was Melody's idea and I love the way it turned out! Baby legs are so freaking cute.

I call this next one "tiny girl on big couch" :) Jared's mom is an artist, and she has so many unique sculptures and paintings in their house. The stick figure on the right was one of my favorites.

And just for fun, here's a picture of Melody and I with our huge backpacks. Hard to believe this was 7 years ago...
