Wedding Vendor Reviews
Thursday, December 27, 2007 Before I bombard you all with more wedding pictures, I wanted to do a quick review of our venues and vendors -- just in case any local brides- or grooms-to-be are reading this!
- The Baltimore Basilica:
Huge, beautiful, and full of history. Monsignor Hobbs was our celebrant...he is a wonderful and sweet man. Erlinda LaChica, our organist, did a great job and even let my Dad play the keyboard to accompany my sister's singing. Chris, the security guard/procession coordinator, was also very nice and helpful. The place is pretty much perfect, except for the holding room. My bridesmaids and I had to stand in a stairwell with nowhere to sit before the ceremony...but the beauty of the church and kindness of their staff totally made up for it! - The Baltimore Museum of Industry:
I can't say enough great things about this place!! If you're looking for a fun and unique venue that speaks Baltimore to you, this is your place. Jessica Williams is the event coordinator, and she is great! - Hair - Denise Sharpe:
Denise is the fantastic stylist who chopped my hair off last month. I've known her for years and she is very talented and highly regarded among her peers. I definitely recommend her! - Makeup - Medgie Benjamin:
Medgie didn't have an easy job with my face - there was a lot of stuff to "fix". Somehow she made my skin look smooth and radiant and I love her for that! She works for the Trish McEvoy line at Nordstrom. She is so sweet...and she's Filipino, which makes her even cooler :) - Flowers - Crimson and Clover:
We gave full creative flower control to Amy Epstein (the owner), and she blew us away! I don't know the first thing about flowers and it gave me a headache just thinking about what types would work with our theme. Well, Amy used her incredible talent and somehow created perfect arrangements for us. We're so happy we went with her! - Caterer - Royal Affairs:
Ben Munoz (the owner) is an old family friend. He catered my sister's wedding and was very easy to work with. Of course I had no appetite during the reception, but I heard the hors d'oeurves were really yummy...and the dessert bar with the chocolate fountain and fresh fruit was also a hit! Ben also went over and beyond for us and brought outdoor heat lamps for the patio area at no extra charge. If you want good food and service at a nice price, give Ben a call! (410) 744-0726 - Cake - Patisserie Poupon:
This cute little French bakery was recommended to us by our florist, Amy. Their pastries are heavenly. Like we did with Amy, we gave them full creative control. The cake was delicious, and I loved the brown & cream colors and the swiss dots. I wasn't crazy about the orange sunflowers on top (Drew liked them), BUT I can't complain because we told them to make it fall inspired, and they did just that. So they still get an A from us :) - DJ - MyDeejay.com:
Evan Reitmeyer is the President and founder of MyDeejay.com and he is awesome! We got so many compliments on the music. He played all of the songs we wanted and more that we didn't even know we wanted. Strangely enough, I used to work with him at Bozzuto a couple years ago but didn't realize it until after we hired him...AND at our reception we found out that he and Drew are related! Evan's wife is Drew's cousin's wife's cousin..I hope I got that right! So it was even better that we had a relative on the "turntables", haha :) - Photography - Three Blondes and a Camera:
In case you've missed me gushing about these photographers in past blog entries, Three Blondes and a Camera are amazing. Simple as that. As you will see, they captured every single emotion we felt that day...from the laughter to the tears to the silliness. They are first-rate photographers and I hope that you look into them if you are getting married. You will most likely speak to Michelle Rose who owns the company. She is super nice and will answer any questions you may have. I highly recommend them! - Day of Coordinator - Jennifer Tiemeyer:
Jen and her boyfriend Mark were guests at our wedding (I've been friends with Jen since high school). She worked as a wedding coordinator for a couple years, so I asked her if she could guide us in the right direction and maybe help run the show for us. Well, she and Mark ended up coordinating and setting up the ENTIRE reception! They took care of everything...dealt with the vendors, set up the tables inside & outside, set up the candy bar and place cards, arranged the centerpieces, I could go on and on...AND they did it all out of the kindness of their hearts. They are truly wonderful friends. The reception went off without a hitch, thanks to them. I told them they need to start their own business...sooo if you're in need of a super organized day-of coordinator, let me know and I'll give you Jen's contact information!
Wedding Floodgate Warning
Monday, December 24, 2007 So, as you may have noticed, the wedding floodgates have officially been re-opened. Please bear with me. It won't be for very long :) Looking through our professional pictures has brought back tons of happy memories. A HUGE thank you to our family and friends who supported us through all of the crazy mayhem this year. It was difficult to juggle our full-time jobs, our photography, AND the wedding planning...but we got through it! We're excited to start (a stress-free) 2008 together as husband and wife. We're ESPECIALLY excited about growing our photography business and testing out the waters with WEDDINGS! Our first official job as "wedding photographers" is on May 10th!! The pressure is on..but we are pumped!! Thankfully, we have some wonderful professional photographer friends who have offered to let us second shoot with them to gain more experience. We can't wait to see what the new year brings!
(Stay tuned for more of our professional wedding pics! :)Last Minute Stuff
Sunday, December 23, 2007 We were supposed to go to NYC this weekend to play with our good friends Factor & Kelly (a.k.a. The Smack Factor), but due to work and unfinished Christmas shopping it didn't happen. It's okay though, we'll see them soon enough since they're spending Christmas with Factor's family in MD..yay! To make ourselves feel better about not being in NY, we went to Target yesterday and spent 2 1/2 hours shopping. Since when do they sell such cute clothes?? I got 3 tunics and 2 sweaters for only $70. I love a good bargain.
Also, we FINALLY got around to going through our AMAZING wedding pictures by Three Blondes and a Camera. We still have to pick out our super favorites to post on the blog, but here are four that I LOVE. I still remember how I felt walking up to the church with my girls...giddy, nervous, walking on air, excited to see Drew. I think our photographers were able to capture all of those feelings in these shots. The sun beaming through the columns makes me happy, too. And the last shot is one of my favs of Drew and his boys. What a handsome bunch :)

R.I.P. Barnaby
Saturday, December 15, 2007

He hated baths and getting groomed, which is why his hair looks unkempt in the above pictures :) For the one below, we had to tie him to a tree with 2 ropes to keep him still...look at how cute he was.
